Bringing Home Your First Pet!
So, you begged your parents/boyfriend/girlfriend/roommate/yourself. You finally decided to get a dog. How wonderful! congratulations! First of all, this is going to be a lot of hard work!!! when I got my first dog I thought oh just gotta watch it and have fun…… yeah no! It is a lot of work effort and money. so I just want you to know what you ar getting inn to.
So now you’ve been warned to the fun stuff. First, getting a dog and taking care of it such a rewarding feeling. You not only gain and learn how to handle big responsiblity you get a best friend with unconditional love. So, this brings me into my frist topic.
- Finding, Getting, and, Meeting Your New BFF!
The number 1 rule of buying, adopting, whatever you call it, DONT BUY ONLINE! Take this to heart. Trust me i know from personal experience that about 101 percent of the time you will get scammed. If you still are being hard-headed than think about this: i have a friend at the age of 12 who wanted at puppy. so she begged and her grandma gave in. instead of doing it the right way they went online. lets just say 9 months later the little girl was in tears for being let down constantly by a scammer and her grandma was 2,ooo dollars in the hole for a fake dog. So, now that i got that down. It’s best to just go to a breeder or adopt.
- IF YOU go to a breeder than i highly suggest you do your research first. Call around, ask for references, a good breeder will give you these things. OK so i highly suggest you go on to this site it has everything you can search be location, breed, and price.
www.breeders.net
- Now, if you are going to adopt than it depends on your area. you just have to search in google___________(location(county) animal shelter.
Now, you’ve met your breeder/animal shelter and done you research. you’ve met with them and met you dog/cat. And you are expecting in a couple of days a pet. well first off congrats!!! But, now its time for work.
- What are you going to do when you get home with your pet?
It is going to be kinda nervous. you’ve just token it away from anything familiar. so wat you wanna do is have everything set up so he/she can wander and familiarize itself with everything.
- First, where are you keeping him/her.? in the kitchen, in your room, in s closed off space, is it going to have free roam(highly unrecommended). So once you figure out where your pet is hang in here is your shopping list:
- a bed
- toys
- shampoo
- toothbrush
- treats
- clothes(depends on climate)
- food
- dishes
- maybe a book on how to train
- a leash
- collar
- a tag
that’s the necessities of the first week.
next you just bring him home. make sure you bring someone because he might throw up.
Last, once you have brought him home be greedy don’t let a bunch of people mess with him. just chill. lastly, you should take him to the vet as soon as possible to make sure he is ok.
ok, so you got your pet and have fun!
